NSAAR Race Information

Description

The No Skirts Allowed Adventure Race (NSAAR) is a women's only adventure race -- a team event that combines mountain biking (on road & trail), canoeing, trail running/hiking, orienteering/navigation, and surprise mystery events. Teams consist of two or three women. All team members must start and finish together, covering the entire course together. The actual distances, course layout and order of events will not be disclosed until race day.

Divisions

Two and Three person adult teams (18 and over) with Solo team option available. Awards will be given to a minimum of the top three finishing teams.

2010 will include a Junior Division. Racers must be 12 years of age or older, and must be accompanied by an adult.

Divisions & Fees

Divisions:

  • 2 Person Open, All Female
  • 3 Person Open, All Female
  • 2 Person Junior, All Female (One member 12-17 years old racing with an adult)
  • 3 Person Junior, All Female (At least one member 12-17 years old, at least one adult)
  • No SOLO racers

Fees:

  • $65 per racer early registration through September 26th
  • $75 per racer through Thursday, October 7th at midnight.
  • No race day registration
  • Proceeds go to support the campers at Horizon Camp Indy

Disciplines

Trekking/Running: 5-10 miles

Cycling: 15-20 miles

Paddling: 1-4 miles

Special Challenges both mental and physical

Ropes Challenges: All gear and training will be provided.

Beginner Clinics

Clinics will be provided for all racers and any woman interested in learning about adventure racing. The clincs will be at Jameson camp Friday evening, Oct 9th, and will cover several topics including:

  • Adventure Racing 101
  • Orienteering & Race Navigation
  • Beginner's Ropes
  • Race day Bike Repair
  • Race Day Nutrition
  • General Q&A

Cristal Garrison

Cristal Garrison and Michelle Folz created the NSAAR Women's only race in 2007 as a way to introduce more women to the sport. Since that time, Cristal continues to design and direct this unique race.
