Amazing Adventures

Planet Amazing Adventure

The Amazing Adventures are our beginner and family friendly adventure races.

Teams consisting of two or three (ages 8 and up) will work together to travel through the course on foot, by bike or paddle power, conquering several fun mental and physical challenges along the way. Adding to the excitement, your team will navigate the course using street and orienteering maps.

Using the supplied maps and course instructions, you will move through the course encountering various Checkpoints (CP's) where you'll punch your "passport", find a clue or possibly complete a special challenge. Check out the Gear List for all the stuff you'll need to bring.

2011 Information

Columbus Amazing Adventure Goes Wild!

Last year's urban assault on downtown Columbus saw you ghost hunting in a haunted theater, getting flushed down a giant toilet, and sliding down a real fireman's pole! This year, bring your appetite for high adventure, scenic vistas, zany challenges, and plenty of thrills in western Bartholomew county! (hint: there will be a pre-race bike inspection to insure that your brakes and tires are in good working order).

Rugged terrain will make this year's race challenging (and rewarding). But don't worry; we love beginners, families, and fun, and the course will be rated "E" for everyone! All riding will be downhill.* So, team up with your kids, bring grandma and grandpa, get reacquainted with your spouse or sweetheart**, rouse out your best friend, or challenge the rival department at work (they're a bunch of slugs!).

As if it couldn't get any better, the ridiculously generous folks at Planet Adventure donate 100% of the race profit to kids! Over the past two years, they have donated over $3400 to the Ocean Science class at Columbus East high school to help students attend their annual field trip to Seacamp in the Florida Keys. This field trip is an amazing, once in a lifetime adventure for our kids, and gives them real life experience that makes their classroom lessons pop!

The race will begin at the Columbus Youth Camp, about six miles west of the Columbus I-65 exit (the one with the big red arches). Directions are posted below. You can get a preview at www.columbusyouthcamp.com. If you missed the Columbus Amazing Adventure Race last year, stop beating yourself up and get signed up for this year! We look forward to enjoying a great day with you!

* not quite true, but we are working on that part
** they had better be the same person!
